Introduction
Ecmabox ("we," "our," or "the App") is a personal journaling app that helps you write daily letters to your future self. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is stored, and your choices. Ecmabox is designed to keep your content on your device.
Information We Collect and Store
Information you provide
- Account credentials: When you use Quick Login, the App generates a local username and password and stores them on your device. We do not operate a remote account server.
- Profile information: Display name and optional profile photo you choose in Profile settings.
- Letters and attachments: Titles, body text, daily question answers, photos, audio recordings, and videos you attach to letters.
- Chat messages: Messages you send to the Future Self chat feature and saved resonance items.
- Mood selections: Optional mood tags you attach when sealing letters or sending chat messages.
Information stored automatically on your device
- Writing streaks, daily question state, echo reply usage, chat reply pool usage, stamp balance, purchase-related flags, app preferences, and similar app state via local storage (UserDefaults) and files in the App's documents directory.
We do not upload your letters, media, chat content, or profile data to our servers.
Device Permissions
The App may request the following permissions. You can deny any optional permission in iOS Settings; some features may not work without them.

| Push Notifications | Requested when you tap "Enable Daily Reminders" on the Today screen. The App only requests authorization; we do not operate push notification servers or send remote notifications from our infrastructure. |
In-App Purchases
Ecmabox offers optional Stamp packs through Apple's In-App Purchase (StoreKit) system. Product identifiers include com.ecmabox.p1 through com.ecmabox.p8 at various price points. Payments are processed by Apple; we do not collect or store your payment card details. Stamp balance is stored locally on your device. You may also redeem stamps for optional in-app cosmetic items (e.g., Echo theme).
How We Use Information
We use on-device data solely to:
- Provide core App features (letters, timeline, echo replies, chat, achievements, store).
- Maintain your local stamp balance and purchase state.
- Remember your preferences and writing streak.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your letter content for advertising.
Data Retention and Deletion
All user content and account data remain on your device until you delete it or remove the App.
Delete Account (Profile → Delete Account) permanently removes locally stored account credentials, letters, media files, chat history, saved resonances, stamps, preferences, and related data keys from your device. This action cannot be undone.
Logout ends your session locally but does not delete your data.
Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data unless iOS backup restores it.
Children's Privacy
Ecmabox is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us at privacy@ecmabox.app.
Security
We rely on Apple's iOS platform security for data at rest on your device. Because data is stored locally, you are responsible for securing your device (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).
International Users
The App stores data on your device in your jurisdiction. No cross-border transfer to our servers occurs because we do not collect your content on remote servers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
